Call of the Wild – Poetry

CALL OF THE WILD

Out of piercing silence a coyote calls…
Lone wanderer dreads emptiness that befalls
those who — perchance — may come, alas to this
state where, outside the warmth of human bliss|
They face the agony of loneliness.

What can be done to ease soul’s hunger pain?
Like coyote… cry out through darkness again —
And yet again — lest emptiness devour
Your deepest need — and thus forestall the dawn
that breaks when soul meets soul for one brief hour.
