If you live in New Mexico and need to update car or drivers licenses, a word of caution.
You want to go to the Motor Vehicles Department – MVD. If you’re not careful you’ll get charged more than double what you should pay for these licenses.
Don’t even consider going to a place that has MVD in its name just because you see the familiar MVD – there are loads of these: MVD Express, MVD NOW, etc. They are NOT MVD…they’re contractors who will charge you not only the state charges but also their own service fees even more than doubling your costs.
It might take you 2 minutes longer to get yourself to an official state MVD but it’s well worth taking the time.
This issue is indicative of doing business everywhere these days. You need to check and double check who you’re doing business with. ASK before you do business with anyone. Make sure they can identify that they are who they claim to be … and check their fees before you work with them.
