Use it or lose it…

It's been quiet on this blog for several months. No excuses. Life has a way of taking us off in different directions from time to time and that's a good thing. It keeps us from getting stale. I've re-discovered some old interests in the interim…embroidery and woodburning among them.

Just as I was getting immersed in these activities, a temp job came my way and I just couldn't say no thanks. It's been fun. I'd forgotten the joy of waking up before the crack of dawn and hustling out to sit at someone else's computer all day long just to drag myself back home at end of day.with little enthusiasm left for firing up my own computer. I'm really glad that employers still seek me out from time to time, but I have to admit, that I like retirement; I'm looking forward to getting back to normal so I can finish some of those Christmas gifts I've started.

Meanwhile, my eyes have finally reached the point where cataract surgery is imminent. Can't wait! I've hesitated writing blogs simply because I can't rely on my typing and proofreading to be up to snuff. And, I hate to put you through the agony of weeding through the errors..That said, the prospect of being able to see more clearly in time to enjoy the upcoming holidays has me excited.

I might have felt more guilty about not updating this blog but I figure you don't need to hear another opinion about why I'm voting for my candidate. Or how sick and tired I am of all the lies that have been shoveled at us in the heat of this year's political battles.Yes, I've been paying close attention and am aware that I'm one of the 99% and the 47% but I'm still alive and kicking and I will vote my conscience just as soon as early voting begins in Illinois. I urge everyone to stand up and be counted. This is still a country "of the people, by the people, and for the people". If we default on our right to be heard at election time (and in between elections) we have only ourselves to blame if we get a government we can not tolerate.

If, like me, you're of a certain age.. you know that you don't have to take a back seat there's plenty to keep your life interesting as you continue to expand your interests and build on your accomplishments. Remember, in all things, use it or lose it…and stay sharp… .
